PARISH NOTES

LENTEN PENANCE:  Guidelines on notice board as well as leaflets. It would be worthwhile to consider a weekday Mass as well as the Sunday.

PASSION (PALM) SUNDAY 28 March:  A reminder to bring your own palms/cycads, & maybe extra for other parishioners & church decoration.  After the 10am Mass there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament until Benediction at 3pm.  This is offered as a time of quiet prayer & reflective reading in & around the church.  A clipboard will be at rear of church to fill in time slots to ensure that at least two people are in the church at any one time.

SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION:  Its importance is stressed in the Cardinal’s Lenten Letter.  There will be two extra times (besides Saturdays) - the two Tuesdays before Easter after the 7.30pm Mass (8-8.30pm), ie 23 & 30 March.  No confessions on Holy Saturday.

FEAST OF ST PATRICK:  Wed. 17 March, Mass - 9am

LEGION OF MARY - Acies Ceremony - Sun, 21 March at St Catherine Laboure, Gymea.  Opening prayers 1.30pm followed by Mass at 2pm.  All active & auxiliary members, past & present are invited.

FEAST OF ST JOSEPH: Fri 19 March.  Mass at 9.15am

 

 

 

OTHER PARISH NEWS

PLANNED GIVING BY CREDIT CARD  For Parishioners who would prefer to contribute by Mastercard or Visa, you can have either: - Automatic charge monthly.  Please note quarterly & yearly now not available.  Standing Order forms obtainable at rear of the Church.  This is available immediately.  From 1st July, complete the panel on reverse of your new weekly envelope.

KINDERGARTEN ENROLMENTS: The official enrolment period for Archdiocesan Catholic schools commences on Mon 15 March.  Parents seeking enrolment for their child at St Joseph’s for 2011 are invited to collect an enrolment package from the school office from that date and return it with the relevant documentation by Fri 28 May.  Children being enrolled in Kindergarten must be 5 by the end of July 2011.

 

 

 

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAMME

PIETY STALL: Devotional items are always available from the Piety Stall on the 2nd & 4th Sunday mornings from 9.30 - 11.15am.  This ministry is a voluntary non-profit activity for the benefit of people attending Mass and/or other Sacraments.

a Special Work of the St Vincent de Paul Society

Compeer is dedicated to providing trained volunteers to help people with mental illness to enjoy the simple pleasures of companionship and social interaction that most of us take for granted. Our aim is to provide a truely satisfying experience for both volunteers and their Compeer friends. Female volunteers 55 and over and male volunteers 25-35 are required for the Sutherland Shire.
